Insanity!

Damn! The 9 year-old and I just did an Insanity workout. We did the fit test a while back but haven’t been back to it. It’s definitely a workout! We’ll see how much it interferes with tomorrow’s swim. It was fun to workout with him- even if he kicks my rear!

I did 15 minutes on the bike as a warmup. Got in 4.67 miles and raised my HR to 128.

I then did 3 miles on the treadmill. 30 minutes. Easy 10:00 pace. My max HR was 156. I plan to do more bike rides before my runs and increase the distance leading up to my race.

Now I’m off to enjoy a sweltering picnic with my family.
Thank you to all of the men and woman who have sacrificed allowing me to enjoy the day with those I love!

Swam 600 meters. Took around 25 minutes (forgot to really look at the clock). Swimming the day after 10 miles was a little tough. I was also getting cramps in the arch of my right foot.

After that I biked for thirty minutes- 10 miles.

Those of you who bike indoors—- what should I be doing to make sure I am getting a workout that is somewhat preparing me for my race? I know the effort levels are all over the place. Should I be shooting for a specific heart rate? I did hills but they weren’t very long. I know nothing can really prepare you for riding outside but I want to make sure I am getting in good workouts.

This afternoon I plan my summer and Chicago training. Tonight- the casino with my MIL!

10 miles. 1:44:53. 10:30 pace.

So I failed on the goal of running early today. Woke up at 3 to a house that was 64 degrees. Our AC is going crazy— at least it works! I ended up being awake until about 4:30.

When I was ready to run it was 9 and already 85 degrees. I opted for the gym. To make up for being a wimp about the heat I added two miles and did 10. Felt great until the last 2 but I pushed through with nice negative splits. I also ran using an Amphipod for the first time.

Came home and enjoyed a reasonable lunch. Will reward myself with a Blue Moon or two this evening.

Tomorrow will be a swim and bike ride.

3.5 treadmill miles. 34:47. 9:57 pace.

Tonight was the second night in a row the wife has gone to the gym with me! I’m thrilled it’s something we’re doing together.

Tomorrow I have 8 miles on tap. Planning to do them outside early. It will be 72 degrees at 7 am.

Last day of school!

Last night’s run was 3.71 miles in 35 minutes. 9:26 pace. Haven’t run since Saturday. Sunday was off, Monday I biked, and Tuesday I was lazy. It felt good to run.

rfgr26:

6.03 miles in 59:36 (not counting the multiple walk/bend over and pant breaks) on the Madison County Trails in the scenic and well populated Troy, Illinois with Kirby.
Followed by the obligatory two hour breakfast filled with wonderful, nonstop conversation, stories, and laughter.
Proving that the Internet is not full of murderers one trip at a time.

I have been impressed all along with how supportive and genuine people are on here. This morning was a delight getting to spend time burning and then consuming calories with one of the Internet in real life.

I never had to get out my pepper spray. It was fun and felt like I was reconnecting with a friend- or maybe my little sister. I think she did call me old at one point.

Claire, thanks for including me in your visit. I hope I don’t have to wait until October to see you again!

I’m also not AS worried about meeting the rest of you.
