3.15 miles. 30 minutes. 9:32 pace.

It was a good run and took my mind off the day as I raised my heart rate and watched CNN.

My 9 year old made the 5 year old a fortune teller yesterday (think square paper folded). In addition to learning which Ninja Turtle you’d be you also asked a yes or no question. He told me 3 times that no, I would not have a good day at work today. I’m not very superstitious but that will no longer be the question I ask.

In the shower this morning I had fleeting thoughts of a day off but there was too much to do. The benefit is that had I not been there much of today would have carried over to tomorrow and I would have been on the phone with work all day today.

Then I learn that Runsforredvelvet is in St. Louis and didn’t contact me.

I’m hoping tomorrow redeems itself.

234.0

Down 1.8 this week.

This was a very stressful week at work. I’m looking forward to some relaxation this weekend. My wife and daughter are attending a wedding tonight and another event tomorrow night so I will get to hang out with the other 3. Sounds like pizza and movie night. Both nights.

3.17 miles. 30:09. 9:31 pace.

Easy run. Started at 6.0 and then pushed it up every half mile. My legs are back in the rhythm. It’s time for me to start either adding some minutes or distance.

3 miles. 29:19. 9:47 pace.

Had a little ankle pain the first mile but it went away after that.

Anyone out there recently get into a doctoral program or work for one (especially top 10 program)? I need someone to talk with me offline about the personal statement.

Yesterday’s weigh-in.

235.8. Down 2.9.

I may have gained some of that back in s’mores tonight. Today was football, soccer, and shopping.

Tomorrow is the gym, mow the lawn, school work, application, football, nap and yummy dinner.

Last night’s run:

3.06 miles. 30:09. 9:52 pace.

Steady, easy run.

Make today a great Thursday. In addition to thanking first responders and those in uniform who protect us I hope everyone takes time to reflect on the sense of community, understanding, and acceptance we saw in this country following 9/11. It was greatest during the first few months and maybe that first year but has slowly dissipated since then. We shouldn’t need another tragedy to return to that place.

Drained

After a 4 hour meeting that was sit-and-get mandatory training we had a two hour discussion about race and how the events in Ferguson impact our work. Lots of people speaking their truth around race. Never easy but the discomfort is what moves us forward. Maybe someday the privilege knapsack will be unpacked …

I am emotionally spent.

3 miles. 29:48. 9:56 pace.

I haven’t run in 2.5 weeks so I wasn’t sure I could even make it 3 miles without stopping but it was a great run. It’s amazing how far I am from my 5k PR on Father’s Day.

I had a terrible start to my day which is abnormal. I don’t generally have “Mondays” and am rarely crabby at work but I had to go back and apologize to those in my 7 o’clock for starting the day off negatively (however, I will add that two were late and the third wasn’t prepared so maybe they contributed). I doubt they’ll do that agin:)

The day slowly got better and was capped off by our 5 year old asking for several hours now how he can mutate like a ninga turtle! He makes me smile.

Had a fantastic day!

Got a lot accomplished around the house and several errands run. Mowed the lawn. Took a nap. We then had my wife’s parents over to celebrate Grandparents’ Day. We are outside and the weather couldn’t have been nicer!
